Infosys Takes Legal Action Against Cognizant Over Alleged Anti-Competitive Tactics

Infosys has filed a counterclaim against Cognizant in a Texas court, accusing the IT firm and its CEO, Ravi Kumar, of using anti-competitive tactics to hinder the development of its healthcare platform, Helix, thus escalating the legal battle between the two companies.

The counterclaim alleges that Cognizant obstructed Helix’s progress by placing contractual barriers, stealing executives, and stifling innovation. Infosys claims that Kumar used insider knowledge to delay the platform’s launch after transitioning to Cognizant. The lawsuit also highlights that Cognizant’s actions have resulted in higher costs for healthcare payers. Infosys seeks a jury trial, a ruling to invalidate Cognizant’s NDAs, and triple damages. This lawsuit is a response to a claim by Cognizant’s subsidiary, TriZetto, accusing Infosys of misappropriating trade secrets for Helix.
