
HDFC Bank Backs Sashidhar Jagdishan For Third CEO Term After Legal Review
HDFC Bank has backed the reappointment of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) Sashidhar Jagdishan for a third term after an independent legal review found no evidence supporting allegations made by former Chairman Atanu Chakraborty.
The bank said the recommendation for Jagdishan’s reappointment will now be submitted to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for approval. His current term as CEO & MD ends in October.
Jagdishan joined the bank in 1996 as a Manager in the finance department and became Business Head of Finance in 1999 before serving as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2008 to 2020. In 2019, he was appointed Strategic Change Agent, taking on additional responsibilities across legal, human resources, corporate communications, administration, and CSR. Before joining HDFC Bank, he worked at Deutsche Bank AG, Mumbai. Jagdishan has over 30 years of experience in banking and finance. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Mumbai and a master’s degree in economics of money, banking, and finance from the University of Sheffield, U.K.
