UK Businesses Exceed 40% Target In Female Board Representation
According to the FTSE Women Leaders Review 2025, leading British corporations are progressing in gender equality, with women occupying more than 43% of board positions. Supported by the government, Lloyds Banking Group, and KPMG LLP, the report shows that among FTSE 350 companies, women hold 6,743 leadership positions (35%) and 1,275 board positions (43%).
This represents an annual increase, guaranteeing that the 40% goal for women’s representation is reached. The development is a result of continuous efforts to lower obstacles to senior positions in the best companies in the UK.
The government wants to give women equal chances as part of its Plan for Change, which will guarantee them access to steady, well-paying jobs that support economic expansion.
Despite the advancements, challenges remain in increasing female representation in executive roles, Chairs, and CEOs. The government will continue working with FTSE companies and other stakeholders to ensure equal opportunities based on merit and talent.
