UK Privacy Regulator ICO to Be Replaced by Information Commission on September 30
The UK Government has confirmed that the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the country’s privacy regulator, will be replaced by the new Information Commission on September 30, 2026.
According to MLex, the date has been set through secondary legislation published by the Government, implementing changes introduced under the Data Use and Access Act, which was approved in 2025.
The transition will replace the existing ICO structure with the new Information Commission framework as part of reforms to the UK’s data protection and information governance regime.
