Nikhil Rathi Reappointed As Chief Of UK Financial Watchdog FCA
Nikhil Rathi has been reappointed as Chief Executive of the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for a second five-year term.
The decision was made by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, who stated the FCA’s role is the key to advancing the government’s economic plans.
Rathi, who was first appointed in 2022, will continue to lead the regulator that oversees over 40,000 financial services firms. Prior to this role, he served as Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange (LSE) plc and Director of International Development. Before joining the LSE in 2014, he worked at HM Treasury, where he held various positions, including Director of Financial Services. In addition to leading the FCA, Nikhil is a member of the Prudential Regulation Committee and the Financial Policy Committee, contributing to the broader oversight of the UK’s financial stability and regulatory framework.
