M.K. Hamied Steps Down From Cipla, Son Kamil To Join The Board To Ensure Continuity
M.K. Hamied, Vice Chairman and Non- Executive Director of Cipla Limited, has resigned with effect from October 29, 2024, due to his age and health issue. His son Kamil Hamied will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director on November 1, 2024, to “maintain continuity while representing the promoter family.”
M.K. Hamied, 83, is the younger brother of Y.K. Hamied, Cipa Chairman and patriarch. He has experience of various functions of the company, such as production, technical areas, quality management, and general administration. He retired as Executive Vice Chairman on March 31, 2014, and from April 1, 2014, he has continued to serve as the Non-Executive Vice Chairman. Hamied is a science graduate from Bombay University.
