Harnessing AI To Scale Sustainability & ESG Goals

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming one of the most important strategic tools for business transformation. At the same time, sustainability, ESG, climate action and responsible growth have become central to boardroom priorities. The convergence of these two forces creates a powerful opportunity: using AI not only for efficiency and innovation, but also for measurable environmental and social impact.

The International Institute for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (IICSR) is hosting “AI & Sustainability: From Strategy to Scalable Impact” in Mumbai on July 17, 2026, at Bombay Management Association, Mumbai, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm IST. The programme is designed to equip leaders to deploy AI for measurable climate impact, cost optimisation and competitive advantage in sustainability.

The workshop will bring together business leaders, sustainability professionals, ESG practitioners, technology experts, consultants and decision-makers to explore how AI can be responsibly designed and practically implemented for sustainability outcomes. The programme is especially relevant for CSOs and ESG leaders, CTOs, CDOs and AI professionals, strategy heads, climate-tech founders and professionals looking to build a 90-day AI roadmap and ROI blueprint.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Harsha Saxena, Founder & CEO, IICSR Group, said: “AI is no longer just a technology conversation; it is becoming a leadership conversation. The real question for organisations is not whether AI can support sustainability, but how responsibly and strategically they can use it to create measurable impact. Through this workshop, we want to help leaders move from curiosity to clarity, and from strategy to scalable implementation.”

The workshop will feature an eminent group of speakers and faculty, including Ajay Dubey, CEO, Intellerac Communications; Prabha Kishore, CEO, IICSR Foundation; Satish Ramchandani, Co-Founder, Updapt; Raghav Sarda, Director, EY Consulting; Harsha Saxena, Founder and CEO, IICSR Group; Jangoo Dalal, CEO, GovEVA; and Amit Aylani, Faculty, VIT Mumbai, focusing on AI integration for ESG.

The event will explore the intersection of AI and sustainability, including how AI can accelerate Net Zero targets, shift ESG reporting towards ESG intelligence, enable energy optimisation, support supply chain tracking, strengthen carbon accounting and address risks around greenwashing, data bias and AI energy consumption.

Dr. Vidyanath Rangojoo, Faculty & Sustainability expert at IICSR, shared: “The future of sustainability will depend on how effectively organisations can combine domain knowledge, data intelligence and implementation discipline. AI can support faster insights and better decision-making, but it must be guided by sustainability principles, governance and human responsibility. This workshop is designed to help professionals understand both the potential and the caution required.”

A key focus of the programme will be practical implementation. Workshop sessions will cover AI applications across carbon accounting, ESG reporting, climate risk modelling, analytics, circular economy and resource optimisation. Participants will also work on identifying AI use cases relevant to their organisations.

Another important session will focus on designing AI for sustainability, covering problem identification, AI model selection, tool selection, data mapping, impact measurement and responsible AI governance.

The workshop will also discuss responsible AI and governance, including sustainable AI infrastructure, the carbon footprint of AI models, regulatory alignment, ethics & compliance and avoiding greenwashing risks.

For Boards and senior leadership teams, this conversation is timely and strategic. AI adoption must be linked to governance, risk oversight, compliance, ethical decision-making and long-term value creation. Sustainability leaders, meanwhile, need to translate AI possibilities into measurable, scalable and responsible business outcomes.

The programme will conclude with key learnings, certification and a 90-day action plan to help participants carry forward AI-enabled sustainability implementation within their organisations.
