Board Stewardship Partners Climate Governance Malaysia For NCGS 2026 In Kuala Lumpur
Board Stewardship has partnered with Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM) for the fourth edition of the National Climate Governance Summit (NCGS) 2026, scheduled to be held from August 3 to 7 at Sasana Kijang in Kuala Lumpur. Sasana Kijang is known as Bank Negara Malaysia’s knowledge and learning centre, whose name reflects the Sanskrit word Sasana, meaning a meeting point for the learned and wise. The five-day summit will bring together policymakers, regulators, Board Directors, sustainability professionals, and corporate leaders to discuss climate governance, resilience, and corporate sustainability.
Held under the theme “Resilience in a Hothouse World,” the summit will focus on the growing role of boards in addressing climate-related risks that are increasingly influencing corporate strategy, capital allocation, enterprise risk management and sustainability reporting. The event aims to provide practical insights into how organisations can strengthen governance frameworks while adapting to evolving climate challenges.
The programme has been structured over five days to combine broad policy discussions with practical learning. The first two days, from August 3 to 4, will feature plenary sessions and workshops in both physical and virtual formats. The remaining three days, from August 5 to 7, will consist of in-person masterclasses and deep-dive workshops at Sasana Kijang, offering participants opportunities to engage with climate governance frameworks and implementation strategies.
Among the key sessions is The People’s Emergency Briefing, a documentary-style presentation designed to provide a data-based understanding of current climate risks. The summit will also feature plenary discussions and fireside chats covering sustainable finance, energy governance, workforce sustainability reporting and corporate resilience. Exhibition showcases will highlight climate and sustainability solutions, while interactive workshops and masterclasses will equip participants with frameworks that can be implemented within their organisations.
A new initiative introduced this year is the NCGS Impact Pledge, which encourages participants to commit to at least one measurable climate action within their organisation, industry or community. Participants taking the pledge will receive a waiver of the standard registration fee of Rs 1,000 by applying the code NCGS2026 during registration. They will also receive an Impact Pledge Certificate recognising their commitment to climate action.
As a supporting partner, Board Stewardship said the summit aligns with its efforts to strengthen boardroom leadership on sustainability and governance. The collaboration reflects the growing emphasis on equipping directors and business leaders with the knowledge, networks and practical tools required to respond to climate-related risks and opportunities. The summit will be conducted in a hybrid format, enabling participation from attendees across the region.
