CGM-In-Charge Monisha Chakraborty Took Charge As Executive Director Of RBI
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Monisha Chakraborty as Executive Director, effective August 3, 2026. In her new role, she will oversee the Foreign Exchange Department and the Financial Markets Regulation Department.
Chakraborty was earlier serving as Chief General Manager (CGM) in charge of the Department of Supervision at the central bank. She has also served as Banking Ombudsman during her career at the central bank. She has over 30 years of experience with the RBI and has worked across areas including supervision, foreign exchange, government and bank accounts. Chakraborty holds a degree in Economics and a Master’s in Business Economics from the University of Delhi.
