Karnataka Bank MD & CEO Srikrishnan Sarma And ED Sekhar Rao Resign

Karnataka Bank announced that its Managing Director and CEO, Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma, and Executive Director, Sekhar Rao, have resigned from their respective roles, effective June 29, 2025.

Sarma has nearly 40 years of experience across commercial, retail, transactional banking, technology, and payments. At Jio Payments Bank, he served as MD & CEO, overseeing its licensing, incorporation, and operational launch in 2018. He was part of the founding team at HDFC Bank, where he led several business verticals, including CV/CE lending and mid-corporate lending. As Executive Director at Yes Bank, he developed a comprehensive commercial banking infrastructure encompassing operations, technology, retail, and treasury functions. He has been a member of the IBA Managing Committee since March 2024. Sarma is known for developing digital banking and supply chain finance systems for Indian and international banks.

Before joining Karnataka Bank as Executive Director, Rao co-founded fintech firm Savvy India and held leadership roles at CSB Bank, RBL Bank, ING Vysya, and ICICI Bank. He also has experience in the manufacturing sector with Asian Paints and Goodlass Nerolac. Rao has over 19 years of experience in the BFSI sector and more than a decade in CXO roles. He has led centralised operations, digital channels, and technology teams, and has consulted on strategy and operations. His work spans branch expansion, fintech scaling, and distribution network development. Rao is a postgraduate in business administration and holds a BE in chemical engineering, with over 29 years of experience across banking, IT, payments, business strategy, and operations.
