Women Independent Directors in IICA Database Cross 10,000 Ahead of Women’s Day 2025
The number of Women Independent Directors in the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) database surpassed 10,000 by the end of February 2025, ahead of International Women’s Day.
In February alone, there were 227 new registrations of Women Independent Directors, again supporting a constant upward trend. Including these 227, more than 1,000 women have registered in the past six months. In the last year, more than 200 registrations of Women Directors in five different months have been recorded.
Since Board Stewardship began providing monthly updates, the number of Women Independent Directors registered has grown by 50% over the last two years. As of February 2025, women therefore make up 29% of the IICA Independent Director database of over 35,000 candidates. The rise in numbers signals a positive shift towards greater inclusion of women in corporate leadership.
