Vikas Sharma,Executive Chairman of Nomura India has resigned

Nomura India announced the resignation of Director and Executive Chairman Vikas Sharma on 10th July 2023.

Vikas began working with Nomura in the Investment Banking division in the Hong Kong office in 1999. He moved to Mumbai in 2007 to establish the Indian business and take on the role of Country Head for India, where he was in charge of developing the India franchise. Sharma has more than 25 years of expertise in banking and consulting. He graduated from the Manipal Institute of Technology and earned an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management in Manila.

Sharma covered the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) industry in Asia as an investment banker. In 2017, he was appointed Head of Asia ex-Japan, where he was charged with carrying out the company’s commercial plan throughout the region. In 2021, he relocated to Mumbai to serve as Executive Chairman for India. In another key exit Utpal Oza, the head of investment banking for Nomura Holdings in Indiarecent left the company.
