TCS CEO Gopinathan steps down, Krithivasan to take over on June 1
Rajesh Gopinathan, the CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for the past six years, will be stepping down from his position, and K Krithivasan will take over as the new Chief Executive and Managing Director on June 1. Gopinathan expressed his gratitude to his colleagues in a farewell note and extended his best wishes to Krithivasan. Krithivasan has been with TCS for 33 years and has held various leadership roles, including delivery, customer relationship management, large program management, and sales. In his most recent role, he successfully led TCS’ largest BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) vertical. Gopinathan had previously emphasised his goal of doubling TCS’ revenue to $50 billion by 2030. The change in leadership comes at a challenging time for the IT services industry, with a slowdown in demand, senior-level retirements within TCS, and uncertainties in the global economic landscape. Notably, Chief Technology Officer K Ananth Krishnan, instrumental in shifting TCS’ focus from outsourcing to consulting, is set to retire in October, and Chief Operating Officer NG Subramaniam, who has been leading TCS’ strategy in areas like artificial intelligence and 5G solutions, is set to retire in May next year. At the age of 58, Krithivasan is among the senior-most candidates to be appointed to the CEO role at TCS. Gopinathan, who has been with TCS for 22 years, became CEO in February 2017 and was reappointed for a five-year term ending in February 2027.
This was previously announced in the month of April 2023.
