Startups Should Focus On Corporate Governance & Self-Regulation: G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant
G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant has called on startups to follow good Corporate Governance and self-regulation to scale successfully.
Speaking at a Startup-focused event, Kant said ethical governance, financial discipline, and robust auditing practices are essential for long-term growth. Citing Infosys as an example, he said strong governance helped the company evolve from a startup to a large corporation.
Kant also launched the India Fintech Foundation (IFF), a self-regulatory organisation for the fintech industry. The foundation aims to promote innovation while ensuring responsible practices and consumer protection. It currently has around 100 members across segments like digital lending, payments, insurtech, and Web3. IFF’s board includes fintech founders and former regulatory officials. The body will work to build standards and ensure compliance.
