Raghupal Singh And Chandra Shekhar Verma Appointed As Directors At Welspun Corp, Representing LIC

Welspun Corp Limited has appointed Raghupal Singh as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director and Chandra Shekhar Verma as an Independent Director. Singh is representing the Life Insurance Corporation of India. Both appointments are effective from December 9, 2024.

Singh has significant leadership experience in the insurance and pension sectors. As Managing Director & CEO of LIC Pension Funds Ltd., he led technological advancements, including migrating to a new enterprise investment management platform. He maintained high-quality investments, ensuring zero NPAs and a downgrade-free portfolio for three years. Singh held various leadership roles at LIC of India, focusing on technology, process optimisation, and social security schemes. He holds a B.Com, a Cost Accountant qualification, and is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of India.

Verma has over four decades of experience in public sector undertakings (PSUs), primarily in the steel sector. He served as Chairman & Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and National Mineral Development Corporation Limited (NMDC) and is a Chairman of International Coal Ventures Private Limited (ICVL). Verma held roles as Director (Finance) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and ITI Limited. He holds degrees in commerce, business administration, and law, and is a fellow member of ICMAI and ICSI. He also led key industry associations.
