Nadir Godrej To Retire As Chairperson Of Godrej Industries, Pirojsha Godrej To Take Over Leadership

Nadir Godrej will retire as Chairperson of Godrej Industries Limited, effective August 2026, upon turning 75, and will take on the role of Chairman Emeritus. He will step down from the Boards of group companies, including Godrej Agrovet Ltd., Godrej Consumer Products Ltd., and Godrej Properties Ltd. He has already stepped down as Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences Ltd.

Pirojsha Godrej will assume the role of Chairperson of the group and Godrej Industries Ltd. from August 14, 2026. Burjis Godrej (son of Nadir Godrej) will become Chairperson of Godrej Agrovet and join the Board of Godrej Industries Ltd.

Additionally, Vishal Sharma, CEO (Chemicals) at Godrej Industries, has been appointed Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences, while Arijit Mukherjee will take over as Executive Director.

Nadir Godrej has been the Managing Director of Godrej Industries Ltd (formerly Godrej Soaps) since 2001 and took over as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) in 2021. He has been associated with the management of the group since 1977 and has worked across animal feed, agricultural inputs, and chemicals, with patents in these areas. He is involved with industry bodies and academic networks and has received national and international recognitions for his work. He holds degrees in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Pirojsha Godrej, son of Adi Godrej, is currently the Executive Vice Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group and Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital, and Godrej Fund Management. He has led Godrej Properties through a period of expansion, during which the company became the largest real estate developer in India by sales in FY21. The company was ranked first globally among listed residential developers by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, completed a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University in 2004, and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2008.
