Kylie McRoberts Appointed as Head of Safety at X

X, earlier Twitter, has named Kylie McRoberts as the new Head of Safety to supervise content controls and recent platform adjustments that have raised concerns among advertisers.

Kylie McRoberts, an internal employee, was promoted to assume the prominent role by the corporation. Additionally, X brought on Yale Cohen, a former Publicis Media executive, to oversee the company’s efforts to ensure that advertisers feel secure using the platform.

In a company-wide email quoted by Bloomberg, Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino emphasised X’s commitment to balancing safety and freedom of expression, highlighting the tireless efforts of the safety team globally. The company also made the announcements regarding these appointments on the platform itself.

X’s trust and safety division, responsible for content moderation, has encountered notable challenges since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform in October 2022. Musk, advocating for “free speech,” aims for Twitter to facilitate healthy debates encompassing a diverse spectrum of opinions.

McRoberts will be the third head of trust and safety under Musk’s ownership. The initial appointee, Yoel Roth, resigned shortly after Musk’s takeover, citing concerns over relaxed standards on misinformation and hateful content. Last June, Ella Irwin, Roth’s successor, also resigned from the position.
