J.K. Cement’s Independent Director Ajay Jha Resigned To Join Sixteenth Finance Commission

Ajay Narayan Jha, Independent Director of J.K. Cement Limited, resigned on February 8, 2024. He is appointed a member of the Sixteenth Finance Commission by the President of India.

Ajay Narayan Jha, a member of the 1982 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the Manipur cadre, held the post of Finance Secretary of India for three months. Additionally, he was appointed as a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission of India. In his career, he has assumed many posts in both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur. Including, serving as Principal Secretary (Finance), Principal Secretary (Environment and Forests), Chairman of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MREDA), Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Manipur, Secretary to the Governor of Manipur, and as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate in Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts in the Manipur government. He has held key posts at the national level, such as Union Expenditure Secretary, Union Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Secretary, Special Secretary in the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance, Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, and Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Law and Justice. He has also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). His experience includes serving as the Secretary of the Fourteenth Finance Commission, Deputy Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India, and Joint Secretary (Administration) in the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts during his deputations.
