Gujarat Industries Power Appoints Rajender Kumar As Nominee Director

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited has appointed Dr. Rajender Kumar, IAS, as an Additional Director and Nominee Director of Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited. The appointment was approved by the Board of Directors on September 19, 2026.

Dr. Rajender Kumar is the Managing Director of Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited. The company also announced the cessation of Narendra Nath Misra as an Independent Director.

Dr. Rajender Kumar is a 2004-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), belonging to the Gujarat Cadre. He has over two decades of experience and has served as District Development Officer for Bharuch and Ahmedabad districts, and as Collector & District Magistrate of Rajkot and Surat. From 2016 to 2021, he worked at the policy formulation and strategic leadership levels in the Government of India. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he served as the sectoral officer in-charge of health in the PMO and acted as a central co-ordinating authority across Ministries, Departments, and State Governments. From 2021 to 2024, he served on the Board of the World Bank as an Advisor to the Executive Director for India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, and as Council Member of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), representing India and neighbouring countries. In July 2024, he was appointed as Secretary to the Government of Gujarat. Since January, 2026, he is posted as Commissioner of Transport, Government of Gujarat and holding charge of MD GSFC. He holds a B.A.M.S. in Ayurvedic.
