Four Non-Executive Directors Appointed To CMA Board

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has appointed Katie Kapernaros, David Halpern, Michael Mire, and Suma Chakrabarti as Non-Executive Directors to its Board.

Kapernaros is a Director and IT executive with over 30 years of experience in international operations and team leadership. She has managed large teams across regions, focusing on service delivery, governance, compliance, and risk management. Her work includes oversight of projects such as the Sydney Olympics. She serves as a Portfolio Non-Executive Director and holds a NED certification from the NEDA. She participates in board committees covering nominations, remuneration, audit, and finance. Her experience extends to sports management, volunteer programmes, and charity governance as a trustee.

Halpern is a public policy specialist who has advised four UK prime ministers. He served as CEO of the Behavioural Insights Team, overseeing interventions across multiple countries. He was the UK’s National What Works Adviser from 2012 to 2023. He was the Founding Director and Head of Research at the Institute for Government and earlier served as Chief Analyst at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit under Tony Blair. He has held academic roles as a visiting professor at King’s College London, Imperial College London, and the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, where he was previously a tenured academic.
