Former SEBI Chief, C.B. Bhave Appointed Chairman of Avenue Supermart Replacing Ramesh Damani

Former SEBI Chairman Chandrashekhar Bhave has been appointed as Chairman of Avenue Supermarts Limited. He replaced Ramesh Damani, who has completed his second term as Chairman and Independent Director on March 31, 2024.

Chandrashekhar Bhave has experience in both state and central administrative services as well as securities regulation. Bhave’s tenure as Senior Executive Director of SEBI from 1992 to 1996, during crucial formative years for the regulator, saw significant strides in building the regulatory framework for capital markets. Following this, he assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) from 1996 to 2008, followed by his appointment as Chairman of SEBI from 2008 to 2011.

Ramesh Damani is a stock market Guru and a leading investor. He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge.
