Former HPCL CMD Nishi Vasudeva Joins Tata Power Company As Independent Director

Nishi Vasudeva has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) of Tata Power Company Limited, effective May 13, 2026, subject to the approval of the shareholders.

Vasudeva is an Indian business executive and former Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), where she served until March 2016. She became the first woman in India to head a major public sector oil company and remains among the few women globally to have led an energy corporation of such scale. She also chaired the Boards of several HPCL joint ventures with multinational and Indian companies. Over her 38-year career in the petroleum sector, she held leadership roles across marketing, corporate strategy, planning, and information systems, while contributing to major business transformation initiatives and hydrocarbon policy committees in India. A Delhi University Economics graduate and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Vasudeva was also the first Indian recipient of the Platts “Global CEO of the Year” award in the energy sector.
