Former CBFC Chairperson Prasoon Joshi Appointed Chairman Of Prasar Bharati

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has appointed Prasoon Joshi as Chairman of Prasar Bharati. The appointment places him at the Head of the country’s public service broadcaster.

Joshi is a poet, lyricist, screenwriter, and advertising professional. He earlier served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has worked with McCann Worldgroup India and McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific in leadership positions. His role at Prasar Bharati involves oversight of public broadcasting services, including television and radio networks operated by the organisation. He has written songs for films such as Taare Zameen Par and Fanaa, along with campaigns for brands including Coca-Cola and Happydent. He received the Padma Shri in 2015. He has won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics twice for his work in Taare Zameen Par and Chittagong. As a screenwriter, he has contributed lyrics and dialogues to films such as Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Delhi-6.
