
Deepak Gupta Appointed As Chairman Of Mahanagar Gas, Praveer K. Srivastava as Managing Director
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has appointed Deepak Gupta as Non-Executive Non-Independent Director and Chairman, and Praveer Kumar Srivastava as Managing Director (MD) for a five-year term. The appointments were approved by shareholders on May 19, 2026.
Gupta joined GAIL (India) as Director (Projects) in February 2022 and has been responsible for executing multiple infrastructure and energy projects, including natural gas and LPG pipelines, gas processing units, SCADA systems, and green energy initiatives. He currently serves on the Boards of GAIL subsidiaries and related companies and has been involved in project execution, governance, and energy infrastructure development. Earlier, he worked at Engineers India Ltd. for over three decades, where he led large-scale projects including refinery and petrochemical complexes in India and abroad. He has also held board positions in several joint ventures such as Talcher Fertilizers Limited, ONGC Petro-additions Limited, and SEAGP. Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
Srivastava has over three decades of experience with GAIL (India). His career includes roles across operations and maintenance of gas processing units, pipeline networks, and project execution at key installations. He has worked in leadership roles in planning, strategy, business development, gas management, and at the CMD Secretariat at GAIL. He later served as Executive Director for the Western Region, where he managed operations and maintenance of pipeline infrastructure connecting LNG terminals like Dahej and Dabhol with industrial customers. His responsibilities also included marketing of petrochemicals and liquid hydrocarbons. He focuses on operational efficiency, safety, and infrastructure reliability, and is associated with CSR and skill development initiatives. He is also a Director at Mahanagar LNG Pvt. Ltd.
