Darshan Mehta, Architect Of Reliance Brands’ Global Portfolio, Dies Of Heart Attack At 64

Darshan Mehta, 64, who led Reliance Brands Ltd (RBL) since its inception in 2007, passed away on April 9, 2025, following a heart attack.

Mehta stepped down as Managing Director in November 2023 and continued as a Non-Executive Director. At RBL, he played a key role in bringing international brands like Valentino, Balenciaga, Tiffany & Co., Giorgio Armani, and others to the Indian market. He also supported Indian designers such as Manish Malhotra and Rahul Mishra. Under his leadership, RBL built a portfolio of over 60 global brands and launched Jio World Drive and Jio World Plaza. Mehta earlier held roles at PwC India, Lalbhai Group, Grey Advertising, Anagram Stock Broking, and Arvind Brands Ltd. He was a chartered accountant by profession.
