Amitava Mukherjee Appointed As NMDC Chairman & Managing Director

The Indian government has appointed Amitava Mukherjee as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited, effective March 6, 2025.

Mukherjee joined NMDC as Director (Finance) in November 2018 and has been serving as acting CMD since March 2023. He also chairs NMDC Steel Limited and Legacy Iron Ore Limited. He has held key positions in the Government of India as a Cost Accountant and a 1996-batch officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS). During his tenure, NMDC has recorded its highest turnover and net worth, expanded digital infrastructure, resumed diamond mining, and pursued international mining ventures, including gold mining in Australia.
