
Manus Costello Appointed As CFO Of Standard Chartered; Tanuj Kapilashrami Appointed As Group COO
Standard Chartered PLC has appointed Manus Costello as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), ending the search to replace former CFO Diego De Giorgi, who left the bank in February to join Apollo Global Management. Costello, 50, will be based in London and assumes the role with immediate effect.
The bank also appointed Tanuj Kapilashrami as Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO).
Costello joined Standard Chartered in 2024 as Global Head of Investor Relations (IR). In that role, he managed the bank’s engagement with institutional investors and analysts, while overseeing communication related to financial performance, strategy, and shareholder relations. Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years in equity research at Merrill Lynch, working in London and New York. Before joining the bank, he co-founded financial research firm Autonomous and led its research operations. He has 25 years of experience in the financial services sector.
Kapilashrami joined Standard Chartered in March 2017 as Group Head of Talent, Learning and Culture. She became Group Head of Human Resources (HR) in January 2019 and was appointed Chief Strategy and Talent Officer in April 2024. She has more than two decades of experience in financial services. Before joining Standard Chartered, she worked at HSBC across leadership roles in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Dubai, and London. Kapilashrami previously served as an Associate Non-Executive Director at NHS England and as a Board Member of the U.K. Financial Services Skills Commission. She is also a Non-Executive Independent Director at J Sainsbury plc and a Member of the Asia House Board of Trustees. Her book, “The Skills-Powered Organisation,” was published by MIT Press in 2024.
