Top 10 CPSEs Account For Over Half Of Rs 4,911 Crore CSR Spend In FY24
Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) spent Rs 4,911 crore on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in FY24, up 19% from FY23, according to the Ministry of Finance’s Public Enterprises Survey.
This marks the highest expenditure in four years. ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation, Power Grid Corporation, REC, and Power Finance Corporation were the top CSR contributors. The top 10 CPSEs accounted for 56.72% of the total CSR spending.
Profit-making CPSEs saw a 38.66% rise in net profit, reaching Rs 3.43 trillion, driven by the petroleum sector. Loss-incurring CPSEs reduced losses by 27.6% to Rs 21,000 crore. While net profit surged, total gross revenue fell by 4.7% to Rs 36.08 trillion, with manufacturing, petroleum, and power sectors dominating revenue generation.
