UK Regulator CMA Probes Adobe Over Subscription Cancellation Fees
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into Adobe Inc. over its subscription cancellation practices. The probe will examine whether early cancellation fees were presented clearly to customers and whether disclosures influenced purchase decisions.
The regulator said it will assess if users were given timely information about fees linked to ending subscriptions for products such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere Pro. The review follows a settlement in the United States, where Adobe agreed to resolve claims related to subscription practices. The company has stated that it has updated sign-up and cancellation processes in recent years.
The UK regulator said no conclusions have been reached. The investigation is being conducted under its consumer enforcement powers, which allow it to determine breaches and take action, including directing changes and imposing penalties.
