Uber Faces FTC Lawsuit For Billing & Cancellation Issues

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a lawsuit against Uber, alleging the company used deceptive billing and cancellation practices related to its Uber One premium subscription.

The complaint claims Uber violated the FTC Act and the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act by making cancellations difficult and charging users without proper consent. According to the FTC, some users had to navigate up to 23 screens and take 32 steps to cancel. The agency also alleges Uber misrepresented potential savings and charged users before free trials ended. Uber denied the claims, stating its processes are clear and legal.

This is the first major tech lawsuit filed since President Donald Trump returned to office, amid growing regulatory actions against other tech firms, including Google, Meta, Amazon, and Apple.
