Trent Appoints Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar Shaw As Independent Director

On March 14, 2024, the Board of Directors of Trent Limited approved the appointment of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw as an Independent Director of the company for a term effective from April 1, 2024, up to March 23, 2028, subject to the approval of the shareholders.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is a pioneering biotech entrepreneur, a healthcare visionary, a global influencer, and a passionate philanthropist. Shaw is the founder of Biocon, and she is currently on the boards of many listed and unlisted companies across the globe, such as Biocon, Syngene International, United Breweries, and Narayana Hrudayalaya, amongst others. She has received the Padma Shri (1989) and the Padma Bhushan (2005), the Order of Australia (2020), Australia’s highest civilian honour, and the Knight of the Legion of Honour (2016). She has been conferred with the EY World Entrepreneur of the YearTM 2020 Award, which is a testimony to her entrepreneurial journey of over four decades. She holds honorary doctorates from several prestigious universities, including Deakin University, Victoria, Australia; Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK; Ballarat University, Australia; Presidency University, Kolkata, India; Bennett University, Greater Noida, India, etc. She holds a B.Sc. in Zoology Hons. from Bangalore University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Malting and Brewing from Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education, Melbourne, Australia.
