Tata Consumer Products Reappoints Bharat Puri & Shikha Sharma as Independent Directors
The Board of Directors of Tata Consumer Products Limited has approved the reappointments of Bharat Puri and Shikha Sharma as Independent Directors, for five years, with effect from May 7, 2024. Subject to the approval of the shareholders.
Since April 2015, Bharat Puri has been the MD of Pidilite Industries, having first joined the Board of Pidilite Industries as an Independent Director. His professional journey began at Asian Paints, where he started as a Sales and Marketing executive, and eventually rose to the position of Head of Sales and Marketing. Later, he transitioned to Cadbury India, serving as Director of Sales and Marketing before being appointed as its MD. Throughout his career, he has held several senior leadership positions in Sales, Marketing, and General Management at both regional and global levels. His exceptional performance culminated in his appointment as the Global President of Chocolates, Gum, and Candy for Mondelez International. He is a graduate of Commerce from Punjab University and holds a post-graduate diploma in Management (MBA) from IIM, Ahmedabad.
Shikha Sharma is the former MD and CEO of Axis Bank. She has vast experience in banking and insurance and serves on the Board of Directors for several companies, including Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Piramal Enterprises. Additionally, she is an advisor and consultant to Piramal Enterprises, Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the Bahaar Foundation, a unit of Akshati Charitable Trust, and Google India Digital Services. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of IIM, Lucknow. She started her career at ICICI Bank in 1980. She held various roles at ICICI and later became the MD and CEO of Axis Bank. She transformed Axis Bank from a corporate lender to a bank with retail deposits. She has received awards like CNBC TV18 Outstanding Businesswoman and is on the boards of several companies. She holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics, a Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology from the National Centre for Software Technology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.
