Surbhi Goel Named As Munich Re India’s First Female CEO

Surbhi Goel has been named as Chief Executive Officer, India Branch of Munich Re, with effect from October 2024. Subject to the approval of the regulator. She will handle the property and casualty reinsurance in India for the Munich Re. She will replace Hitesh Kotak, who will assume the expanded duties of supervising Korea, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia as of July 1, 2024. In her new role, Goel will report to Kotak.

Goel is set to become Munich Re’s first female CEO in India. Since 2022, she has led the Property and Casualty South-East Asia business. Before that, she occupied senior underwriting, business, and reinsurance positions at a prominent Indian insurer in 2008.
