
Sunil Satyapal Gulati & Alok Sethi Join Suryoday Small Finance Bank As Independent Directors
Suryoday Small Finance Bank has appointed Sunil Satyapal Gulati and Alok Sethi as Non-Executive Independent Directors for a five-year term, effective March 12, 2026, following shareholder approval through a postal ballot. The appointments were approved through remote e-voting conducted between May 10 and June 8, 2026.
Gulati currently serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of several financial services, healthcare, and technology companies and is a member of SEBI’s Mutual Fund Advisory Committee. He previously served as Chief Risk Officer at RBL Bank, where he played a role in the bank’s expansion into a national franchise. Earlier, he held leadership positions at Bank of America, GE Capital, ING, and Yes Bank. He has also contributed to mutual fund regulation and passive fund framework development through industry and regulatory committees. Gulati is a banking and financial services professional with experience spanning wholesale and investment banking, retail banking, capital markets, risk management, and financial inclusion. He holds a B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and is a gold medalist from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.
Sethi currently serves as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of Global Operations at Franklin Templeton, where he oversees Franklin Templeton Services, Global Shareholder Services, and the firm’s Centres of Excellence in India and Poland. He joined Franklin Templeton in 2004 after holding leadership positions at MphasiS BFL and Andersen. At Mphasis, he served as Chief of Staff to the Chairman, while at Andersen, he was part of the India leadership team as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Earlier in his career, he worked in banking and investment banking. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Sethi holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Delhi and has spent decades leading global operations, finance, and technology functions.
