South Indian Bank Appoints Mahesh Muralidhar Pai as MD & CEO
South Indian Bank Limited has appointed Mahesh Muralidhar Pai as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) for a three-year term with effect from October 1, 2026. His appointment has been approved by the Reserve Bank of India and shareholders at the bank’s Annual General Meeting held on August 20, 2026.
Pai succeeds P R Seshadri, who completed his tenure as MD & CEO on September 30, 2026.
Pai, who joined the bank as Officer on Special Duty on September 16, 2026, will also serve as a Whole-time Key Managerial Personnel, Material Risk Taker and Principal Officer of the bank.
Aged 50, prior to joining South Indian Bank, Pai was Chief General Manager at Canara Bank. His career includes international experience with Canara Bank’s operations in New York, along with board and industry representation roles. He has served as a
Director of Canara Bank Tanzania Ltd, Karnataka State Financial Corporation and Canara Bank Securities Ltd, and represented Canara Bank on industry bodies including FIMMDA, SWIFT India Domestic Services and the Secondary Loan Market Association.
