Smriti Irani To Be The Chief Guest At MMB’s Women Directors Conclave 2023

Union Cabinet Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smt. Smriti Irani, will grace the Women Directors Conclave (WDC) 2023 as the Chief Guest. The Honourable Minister will address the emerging women leaders of India Inc. in the International Convention Hall at the Bombay Stock Exchange on December 15, 2023.

The Women Directors Conclave and Iconic Women Directors Awards 2023 seek to acknowledge the paradigm shift in the direction of women’s leadership in our nation’s growth and discuss the next steps. The Companies Act of 2013 mandated that specific categories of firms appoint at least one Women Director. India’s female participation rate at the Board level has gradually gone up from 7% to 19% currently. India is also enhancing its reputation internationally by having more female board members and leaders. This opens up new opportunities for qualified and experienced women corporate professionals to move up in their careers to acquire leadership positions, including a Board seat.

Attendees at the conference will learn from prominent members of the business about a range of important subjects, specifically pertaining to women Board leaders. They will take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to expand and enhance their professional network by connecting with other female executives. Get the chance to speak with leading thinkers and mentors from India’s and the world’s top boards one-on-one. Naturally, this will broaden the audience and increase the presence at potential Boards, NRCs, and leadership groups.

Shedding light on the Iconic Women Directors Awards 2023, Divya Momaya, Chief Mentor and Director at MentorMyBoard (MMB), said, “In a world where accolades can often be clouded by biases or popularity, the Iconic Women Directors Award 2023 stands as a beacon of authenticity. This award, presented by Mentor My Board, is recognition that stands out because of our unwavering commitment to transparency and process-driven evaluation.”

During the Women Directors Conclave in 2022, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Honourable Finance Minister of India, praised MentorMyBoard for their initiative and highlighted the critical role they serve in preparing aspiring women directors for Indian boardrooms. She went on to say that MentorMyBoard is not only creating boards that are more diverse and performance-driven but also assisting intelligent and competent women in overcoming the fear that is preventing them from assuming leadership roles in boardrooms that are dominated by men.

Smt. Kiran Bedi, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and India’s first and highest-ranking female IPS officer, is keen to collaborate with MMB and is willing to be the company’s first shareholder when it goes public.

MentorMyBoard is actively working to expand the number of women in leadership positions by providing them with the essential skill sets, whether technical capabilities for Board seats or soft skills for Boardrooms. MentorMyBoard presents the Women Directors Conclave 2023 (#WDC23) with the same purpose in mind: to bring together the finest women Board leaders to support, motivate, and inspire.

MentorMyBoard, a one-stop shop for all boardroom requirements, is the organisation behind the Women Directors Conclave. With the Governance Tech Platform, it empowers boards and directors to grow, learn, network, generate opportunities, and become performance-driven boardrooms and effective board leaders.

Whether it’s founder promoters, startup Boards, Independent Directors, or Women Directors, MentorMyBoard has spent the last five years working hard to create a strong community of Board Leaders to close the gaps in Board leadership. The organisation has been raising awareness and assisting in the improvement of governance effectiveness for Corporate India through a variety of knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities.
