Rajesh Gopinathan Takes The Helm At IIT Bombay’s Translational Research & Entrepreneurship Division

Former CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Rajesh Gopinathan, has joined IIT Bombay as the Head of Translational Research and Entrepreneurship and Professor of Practice, becoming the first ex-CEO of a major Indian IT firm to enter academia. IIT Bombay recently established a translational research centre to facilitate the transition of IPs from the lab to industry, and Gopinathan’s role aims to expedite these initiatives. Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Bombay, expressed enthusiasm about Gopinathan’s global experience aiding the institute’s applied research and entrepreneurship goals. Gopinathan, who departed TCS in September, is also reported to have joined Boston Consulting Group as a senior advisor.
