Noel Tata Seeks Clarity On Key Issues As Tata Sons Chairman Reappointment Remains Pending

The reappointment of Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran for a third term remains under consideration after Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata indicated that several issues require further discussion before any formal decision is taken.

According to people familiar with the matter, Tata informed the Tata Sons Board following its May 26 meeting that questions related to the group’s five-year strategy, the proposed exit framework for the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, and the company’s position on a potential listing remain unresolved. The matter was discussed after some Directors informally raised the possibility of taking up Chandrasekaran’s reappointment at a future board meeting. Tata is understood to have said that any timeline for considering the proposal would need broader consensus.

During the meeting, the Chief Executives of Air India, Tata Electronics, and Tata Digital presented business updates. Discussions also covered the performance of Air India and BigBasket.
