Nelco Welcomes Vijay Somaiya As Independent Director, Reappoints Two Directors, & Bids Farewell To K.N. Murthy
Vijay Somaiya has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) of Nelco Limited with effect from January 27, 2025. Further, the Board has appointed Somaiya as Chairperson and Member of the Audit Committee and Member of the Nomination, HR & Remuneration Committee, effective from January 28, 2025.
Dr. Lakshmi Nadkarni and Ajay Kumar Pandey have been reappointed as Non-Executive Independent Directors of the company with effect from January 28, 2025.
K.N. Murthy will cease to be the Independent Director of the company on the completion of his term with effect from January 28, 2025.
Vijay Somaiya has been associated with Tata Motors Limited since 1982. He serves as a Director on the Board of Tata Motors Insurance Broking and Advisory Services Limited. With over three decades of experience, he specialises in international business, engineering, and finance, bringing extensive professional knowledge to his roles. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) degree.
Dr. Lakshmi Nadkarni has over 32 years of experience, and her expertise spans human resources, strategy, governance, and CSR. She has held leadership positions at Reckitt Benckiser, BASF, Dow Chemicals, and Pfizer. She is a certified life coach and serves on advisory panels for institutes like IIM Indore and SP Jain. Dr. Nadkarni retired from BASF Ltd. as HR Director in South Asia in February 2020. She holds a master’s and doctorate in sociology and a master’s in social welfare from Pune University.
Ajay Kumar Pandey has over 40 years of experience in telecommunications, power, energy, and infrastructure He has worked across markets in the USA, Africa, and Asia. Pandey has led projects like India’s GIFT City and served on key committees for FICCI and CII. He is empaneled with the Indian Council of Arbitration. He holds a B.E. Honours in Mechanical Engineering and he is a Fellow of TEMIC, and has completed the Senior Executive Program at London Business School.
