N. S. Vishwanathan assumes charge as Chairman of Axis Bank
N.S. Vishwanathan takes over as the Non-Executive Chairman of Axis Bank effective 16th June 2023.
His experience as a central banker encompasses various responsibilities, including administrative functions for RBI. As Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank, he oversaw regulatory aspects of banking, non-banking, and cooperative banking, along with governance, internal control, risk management, and human resource management. Vishwanathan has also served as Director of Supervision at the Bank of Mauritius and held positions such as Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit at the Industrial Financial Corporation of India. Additionally, he was a member of the Board of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from July 2016 to March 2020. Vishwanathan, with a master’s degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in arts from Bangalore University, has completed an advanced leadership program at Judge Business School, Cambridge University, UK.
