Microsoft’s Dee Templeton has joined the OpenAI Board
Dee Templeton, an executive from Microsoft, has been appointed to OpenAI’s Board as a non-voting observer in a wider Boardroom revamp, according to Bloomberg News on Friday.
Dee Templeton, a seasoned veteran with 25 years at the tech giant, currently serves as Vice President for Technology and Research Partnerships and Operations, as per her LinkedIn profile. The report notes that Templeton has already started participating in OpenAI Board meetings. Both OpenAI and Microsoft have not provided comments in response to Reuters’ inquiries.
In November, maker of ChatGPT, OpenAI, CEO Sam Altman faced a temporary ousting by the Board, only to be reinstated after over 700 employees threatened to resign in support, aligning with Microsoft, a major supporter. Upon his return, Altman announced that Microsoft would assume a non-voting, observer role on OpenAI’s Board, allowing their representative to attend meetings and access confidential information without possessing voting rights on Directorial matters.
