Michael Guo Steps Down As CEO Of Realme India Amid Oppo-Led Restructuring
Realme India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Guo has stepped down from his role, with the company citing health reasons for his departure. The leadership change comes as Realme undergoes a restructuring process within the Oppo Group, according to people familiar with the development.
Realme said Chase Xu, Vice President of Realme Global, will oversee the India market following Guo’s exit. Sources indicated that Oppo is working towards a unified operating structure for Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus. Under the plan, Realme is expected to transition from an independent smartphone brand to a product series within the broader Oppo ecosystem, while OnePlus will continue as an online-focused brand.
Guo had led Realme’s India business since March 2023 after previously managing the company’s operations in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. A graduate in Mechanical Design and Automation from Central South University, China, he began his career with Oppo, where he served as Head of Retail Marketing for Southeast Asia. In 2018, he joined Realme as part of its founding team in India and played a key role in building the brand’s market presence and distribution network. He later served as Sales and GTM Director for Realme India and Europe, overseeing expansion across both regions. Guo became CEO of Realme India in 2023, focusing on product strategy, consumer engagement and business growth across the market.
