Mark Mackay Steps Down As CEO Of The Star Gold Coast After Brief Tenure

Mark Mackay has resigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Star Gold Coast after just 95 days, marking the second leadership change at the resort in 2024.

This follows the departure of his predecessor, Jessica Mellor, who stepped down in April after only six months. While Star Entertainment Group did not specify a reason for Mackay’s exit, they confirmed they are already searching for a new CEO. This news arrived just a week after the Queensland government announced it would delay any decision on suspending the casino’s license until March 2025. The company is also facing financial challenges, including securing an AU$ 100 million debt facility amid regulatory pressures in both Queensland and New South Wales.
