Lemon Tree Hotels appoints three Independent Directors

Lemon Tree Hotels Limited has appointed Praveen Garg, Sanjiv Nandan Sahai and Smita Anand as Additional Directors (Non-Executive Independent Directors) for a period of five years subject to shareholder approval.

Additionally, Jyoti Verma has been appointed as the Company Secretary (KMP) and Compliance Officer of the Company, with effect from November 21, 2023.

Praveen Garg, a Chartered Accountant, serves as an Advisor at Mobius Foundation and holds roles such as Government Nominee Member, Appellate Authority, and Senior Advisor for ESG & Climate Change at the National Productivity Council (NPC) India. He has served as the Secretary of the Department of Renewable Energy, Commissioner of MP Housing and Infrastructure Development Board, Executive Director at Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO), CEO of Lake Conservation Authority, Member Secretary of State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Executive Director of Disaster Management Institute in Bhopal, and Revenue Commissioner of Bhopal Division. Then he joined the Government of India as a Joint Secretary in the Department of Justice and later served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. He also took on the additional responsibility of Chairman and Managing Director of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL).

Sanjiv Nandan Sahai started in Tata Administrative Service before joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1986. In his career, he held key roles, including time in the Prime Minister’s Office and leadership positions in Delhi’s transportation and housing sectors. Nominated by IDFC Ltd., he served as Managing Director & CEO of Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Limited (DIMTS). Later, in the Delhi Government, he played a vital role in introducing GST and served as Finance Secretary. In the Indian Government, he led power sector reforms before retiring in January 2021. Currently, he directs the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library and serves as the Director General of Power Foundation. Sahai, with a Masters in Public Policy from Princeton University, received honours for his service in an insurgency-affected district of Arunachal Pradesh in 1994.

Smita Anand, with over 4 decades of experience, has been an Independent Leadership Advisor & Executive Coach since 2016. With a background in global management consulting and human resources, she served as the MD at KornFerry’s Leadership & Talent Consulting India and held key roles at Aon Hewitt for almost a decade. Smita also has consulting experience with EY and PwC. She began her career in internal HR roles in leading Indian companies and holds an MBA in Human Resources from Allahabad University.

Jyoti Verma, fellow Member of ICSI, has around 19 years of experience in Corporate Compliance Management in Listed, Unlisted/Overseas Entities with very renowned Corporate Groups.
