Justice Ashok Bhushan Concludes His Tenure As Chairman Of NCLAT

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) Chairman Justice Ashok Bhushan has completed his tenure after leading the appellate tribunal since November 2021 and has consequently retired.

Justice Bhushan is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India. He began his legal career as an advocate at the Allahabad High Court before being appointed as a judge of the same court in 2001. He later served as Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. In 2016, he was elevated to the Supreme Court, where he was part of several Constitution Benches and delivered judgments on insolvency, constitutional law, public administration and civil matters before retiring in 2021. During his tenure at NCLAT, he focused on improving the functioning of the appellate tribunal by streamlining virtual hearings and reducing delays in the disposal of appeals arising from the National Company Law Tribunal.
