IMA Appoints Sunil Deshmukh as Global Board Chair for Fiscal Year 2025
IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) has announced the appointment of Sunil Deshmukh, CMA, as the Chair of IMA’s Global Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025). Deshmukh, hailing from India, marks a historic first as the inaugural IMA Chair from the country.
In his role, Deshmukh aims to bolster IMA’s long-term stability, expand into new markets, and implement the organisation’s fresh strategic vision. He plans to foster strategic partnerships and collaborations within the B2B sector while also mentoring IMA’s Senior Leadership Team.
Currently, Deshmukh serves as a leadership and executive coach and strategy consultant, advising both for-profit and nonprofit organisations globally on leadership development, business strategy, and executive coaching. With over three decades of experience, he has held roles in consumer markets across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, overseeing business strategies, operations management, and Board-level governance.
Deshmukh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Marathwada University, India; a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Symbiosis Law College at Pune University, India; and a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Pune University. He is a fellow member (FCMA) of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), a fellow member (FCS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and a fellow member of the Institute of Directors (IOD) of India. He is also accredited as an ACC (Associate Certified Coach) with ICF USA and a Certified Executive Coach with Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder-Centred Coaching (MGSCC) USA. Deshmukh has participated in numerous leadership programmes in the U.S., UK, and India and holds a certification as a Certified Sustainability Professional (GCB-D) from Competent Boards.
A member of IMA since 2010, Deshmukh has served on the IMA Global Board since 2021 and obtained his CMA (Certified Management Accountant) credential in 2010.
