
IiAS Study Reveals Steady Improvement In Corporate Governance Among Indian Firms
A study by Institutional Investor Advisory Services (IiAS) reveals that Corporate Governance standards among India Inc. have improved, with the median governance score for BSE 100 companies remaining “good” at 61.
The study, released on Friday, highlighted that for the first time, no BSE 100 company fell into the “basic” (lowest) governance category. Companies such as Axis Bank, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Marico were categorised as “leadership”. Hetal Dalal, President and COO of IiAS, noted that corporate India is becoming more responsive to investor feedback, despite significant equity held by promoter families. The highest governance score achieved by a company in this group was 82, and the lowest score was 50.
