Hugh Johnston is new CFO of The Walt Disney Company

Hugh Johnston has been appointed as Senior Executive VP and new CFO of The Entertainment Giant, The Walt Disney Company. As the top financial executive of the company, he will serve as a critical deputy to CEO Bob Iger. Hugh Johnston, who is currently the Vice Chairman and CFO of PepsiCo, is replacing Christine McCarthy, who left earlier this year. He begins his new post on December 4 and will move from New York to California.

He has experience in various leadership positions at PepsiCo, where he has worked since 1987, and he has held different positions, including Executive VP of Operations, President of North America, and Senior VP of Transformation.

Because of his C-level leadership and experience at a big consumer company like PepsiCo, some people might wonder if he could be the next leader after Iger.

Disney is going through some big changes, like buying the rest of Hulu and dealing with an activist investor named Nelson Peltz. Bob Iger has been making decisions like cutting jobs and making Disney’s streaming business more profitable. He’s also thinking about what to do with Disney’s TV networks like ABC and ESPN.
