Hitesh R. Joshi Appointed As Chairman-Cum-Managing Director Of General Insurance Corporation
The General Insurance Corporation of India has appointed Hitesh Rameshchandra Joshi as its Chairman-cum-Managing Director with effect from June 16, 2026, following approval from the Central Government. The appointment was made under Article 83 of the company’s Articles of Association.
Joshi was serving as Executive Director at the corporation before being elevated to the top post. During his career at GIC Re, he has worked across reinsurance, retrocession, finance, enterprise risk management, strategic planning, internal audit, investor relations, and budgeting. As Executive Director, he oversaw human resources, international business operations, information technology, vigilance compliance, claims, legal affairs, audit, and compliance functions. A postgraduate in Accountancy from the University of Mumbai, Joshi also holds a master’s degree in Financial Management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India.
