Hindalco Industries Appoints Arun Adhikari as Independent Director & Sushil Agarwal as Non-Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Hindalco Industries Limited, subject to shareholders’ approval, has approved the appointment of Arun Adhikari and Sushil Agarwal as Independent Director and Non-Executive Director, respectively, with effect from May 1, 2024. The Board has also approved the reappointments of Praveen Kumar Maheshwari as Whole-Time Director from April 1, 2024; Satish Pai as Managing Director and Key Managerial Personnel from August 1, 2024; and Vikas Balia as Independent Director from July 19, 2024.
Arun Adhikari started working at Hindustan Unilever (HUL), and in his career, he held a number of senior positions across the fields of sales, marketing, consumer research, and general management, both in India and abroad, working in London, Tokyo, and Singapore. Then Adhikari became the Executive Director for Personal Care at HUL. He was appointed as the MD for Home and Personal Care and joined the Board of Directors of HUL. He was also a member of the executive and governing bodies of several industrial, trade, and professional associations in India, including the Market Research Society of India, the Indian Soaps and Toiletries Manufacturers Association, the Indian Society of Advertisers, and the Advertising Standards Council of India. He also served as Chairman of Unilever Japan KK. He became the Senior Vice President for the Unilever Laundry Category across Asia and Africa, based in Singapore. After retiring from Unilever, he joined McKinsey & Company in India as a Senior Advisor for four years. He has been an Independent Director on several company Boards. He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
Sushil Agarwal is currently the Group Chief Financial Officer and Director of Aditya Birla Management Corporation. Agarwal serves as a Director on the Board of several group companies, including Aditya Birla Capital and Vodafone Idea. He is also a member of the Business Review Council of the group. More recently, he has also been appointed as a nominee Director at Zand Bank. In 2018, he was awarded as “India’s Greatest CFO” at the Asia One India’s Greatest Brands and Leaders Awards and as the “Business Leader Corporate CFO” at the 11th ICAI Awards. He was honoured with the ‘Exceptional Contributor Award’ in 2000 and the ‘Outstanding Leadership Award’ in 2014 by the Chairman of Aditya Birla Group. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce.
